found this fella in the bath tub. I dont know what it is... At first I thought it was like the other spiders I found inmy house, so I was trying to look at it's eyes really hard to see if it was a Steatoda, but then I realized it had hairs on its legs and I dont think that's a characteristic of that family... What do I know though? Anywho, it looked like its eyes were in the position of a steatoda spider if that helps any.

It's the one with the cotton swab things in the tub. It wouldn't let me have it back and spiders scare the poop out of me when they are on me and I didn't put them there, so I just left it.

Thanks! :)
Kara

I couldn't really tell, but maybe an orb weaver of some sort?

Looks like a Steatoda grossa from the pictures posted on "Photobucket".. as far as the hair on the spidiies legs, we're not really familiar with this species but we do know that each spidiie's legs are filled with nerves and covered with sensory receptors and sensory hairs which might be these same hairs your finding on the specimen found in your tub.

Here is a link to a thread with TONS of information on this species;http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?t=144019

This shows diagrams of the spider to help with an exact ID since we don't have the specimen right in front of us;

More photo's and information;

BTW, Steatoda is the "Genus" not the "Family" of this spidiie; the "Family" is called Theridiidae with the "Species" possibly being grossa. Just for future reference! :)

I hope that helped in some way or another, LOL! GOOD LUCK! :p

The one on the Q-tip is probably a funnel weaver of some kind (Agelenidae). The genus is not Agelenopsis, though, because the spinnerets are too short.

Whoops, we didn't see the first few photos when opening up your "Photobucket" page, sorry about that.

The specimen with the Q-tip looks to be, as "jsloan" said; Agelenidae.

- Your spidiie looks very similar to this specimen located in Northern Cali;

(ID: Funnel Web Weaver - Genus; Barronopsis)

Sweet Thanks. I wasn't thinking in science terms when I wrote the family thing. :) I'm educated! :D

No problem, at all. All of that stuff can be extremely confusing from time to time. I hope you have a fabulous week! :)

I found a male and they bred. Then she ate him (probably my fault, but whatever.) I have two egg sacs now.
