baby featherlegs

i have got a problem regarding baby featherlegs :? most have left the mother but some are still hanging around her i need some info as to is it safe to remove the babies yet or do i have to wait till they have all left the mothers side

Personally, I would remove the ones that have dispersed, but leave the ones that are still with the mother. They may need to molt before they're able to disperse..... Tough call though...

Carl Sandefer mentioned in his Scolopendra book that the baby pedes start to cannibalize each other around 27-30 days... of course, that's a different genus entirely than your Alipes sp., but still, the same rule of thumb may be valid in this case. I also wouldn't leave them with the mother too long either, as there have been cases of the offspring cannibalizing the mother, thought this seems to be kind of rare.
