How many times a week should I feed my B. Smithi? I'm new to this hobby.
Also when does an average B. Smithi first molt. Kinda anxious so...

what size is your B.Smithi is it a sling, juvienile or adult

If a sling then -> Are you trying to power feed or not?

Molting depends on: When was the las molt, how young is the T, and the environmental conditions provided.

If you are planning to power feed your sling to speed up its molt cycle, you can offer feeders every other day, even every day untill they refuse food.

If you are not planning to power feed you sling then once every 2 weeks is fine.

At yearly stages like that if the conditions are correct (higher humidity and temperatures of ~ 82-84F) slings molt aprox. every 30 days, prior to the molt your sling will refuse feeders become lethargic and darken up. Couple of molts and if you have been paying attention to your sling you will be able to tell with almost 100% when the next molt is coming up :)

The rule of thumb is you shouldnt feed anything to your Ts bigger then their abdomen. This is where you have to become a serial killer: crush cricket heads, chop them up into pieces, deliberatly pull of their kicking legs and do all sorts of crazy stuff.

Enjoy!

I got 1/2 " Avicularia Versicolor slings that I bought the smallest crix I could get at the LPS. The crix were almost as big as the slings were so I pre-killed them and hoped for the best until I got something smaller. Well, a couple of them were hungry enough to go for it and this is what I saw when I peked in awhile later. Kind of funny actually. By the way...I did get smaller food as soon as I could.

I just got a B. smithi baby about a month ago ( 1/4" ). I have been having luck feeding it with super small dubias. They are definately bigger than its abdomen, but about the smallest i can find besides those mini meal worms..( which i have tried, but none of my slings seem to eat them ). I just crush the head on the smallest dubia that i can pick out of my colony. They will still squirm for a long time, but not run or burrow. My little baby smithi loves them, and has no problem eating them. I also have some H. maculata babies that this works well on too.
