My B. smithi seems to like to catch the food that I put in with him and chew on it for a while. If he gets disturbed in anyway (for example if I pick up his tank for a closer look) he puts his food down and webs it up a bit and then picks it up and continues to eat. This is not something any of my other spiders do and wondered if it was normal or if it was just part of his "personality"?
:confused:

Thanks

I think you nailed it down yourself....he's getting disturbed. My Avicularia avicularia always webs its cric's up before eating - probably to facilitate a prime bolus for feeding, but I don't pick up any T's cage while they're eating.

This is normal feeding behaviour. I would refrain from picking up the tank during feeding though. Give the little beastie some peace :}
