OK so I really want one of these guys however I am extremely impatient so I have questions regarding there growth rate. I've seen a lot of slings available but how long are we talking before they hit around 4 inches and really start to have the adult coloration (I know this will vary). It such a beautiful species but if it will take years I may just spend the extra money on an adult female

THANKS

They grow very slow, invest more to buy a female if you can. I think without powerfeeding it takes 7 years or so to reach maturity with females, at least thats what I have read. I could not wait so long so I bought an adult female.

In my experience they are very slow growers.
I have a spiderling I got about a year and a half ago at 1/2".
It has only molted once in the time I've had it and is now 3/4".
I feed one cricket about every week and a half, and keep the temps between 71 - 80 at all times.

Yeah, I've had one that's about 3" now, and she has molted twice in my care, and I've only had her about 10 months.

The one that I had was a slow grower and a bad hair kicker.

Slow growers for sure. Mine are growing a little faster than fartkowskis. I've had them ~4 months. They arrived ~0.25 inches, one has molted twice, the other 3 times. Each are between 0.75 - 1.0 inch now. Kept at room temp (68 - 75 degrees). I offer food once every 7 to 10 days, but they don't always eat that often. Sometimes one or the other will skip a meal. One of them turned down all manner of prey for six weeks before its molt. Both of mine show definite color and pattern after last molts, just not bright yet.
