I just couldn't resist posting this. I love this girl and she is just amazing. I'm still hoping to find a male for her.

She still looks great, man. Did she molt on you yet ? How is everyone else doing?

Yes, she molted about a week ago. I'll send you a PM with some news on the others.

wow....what a beauty!
I've always wanted one, but that will have to wait till I win the lottery.
It would probably help if I actually played it :)

No, your chances of winning are about equally good either way =D

Botar, Hoke used to have some auratum males, don't know if he still does or not. I have three adult females and one of them nailed an adult male I got from Bill (Invertepet) on breeding loan.

wow, what gorgeous colors! tell me, what kind of spider exactly is this, i'm not finding the common name. (also, what a good site with scientific names/common names/pictures to use?) (i've tried several but none seem to have everything...very distressing)

anyway, i am very impressed. beautiful. :)

It is a Brachypelma auratum... could be misspelled. Check e-spiderworld, he may have a common name associated with it. I think it may be Mexican flame knee, but I'm not sure.

It is a fairly high dollar T and I'm hoping for an opportunity to breed her.

ahhh, you know, since they were in the same grouping as the B. smithi i knew they were related and they looked SO similar.

i have a sling of the above-mentioned and cannot wait until it gets larger.

i think they both share the gorgeous coloring. what lovely creatures we share our lives with! :p

I'm with you on that one, Skadiwolf. However, due to the price, I have more B. smithi than B. auratum. I'm hoping for a successful breeding of the B. smithi as well.

Botar,

Do you have any recently bred B. smithi? Or are those the ones that molted before laying an eggsac that you posted about not too long ago? The reason I'm asking is, I'm moving to Colorado in July, and um, Kansas just so happens to be a neighboring state. :D

Bry,

No luck in that arena just yet. I'm waiting for my male to mature. Unfortunately, I'm waiting for my female to mature also and I think he will most likely make it before her.

I've got a lot of other stuff though and a few breeding programs going... so just keep in touch.
