BREEDING REPORT: B. Albopilosum

Feb 24 - Female Molted

Mar 14 - First mating attempt after female finished a couple of adult B Dubias - successful insert

Apr 2 - Second mating attempt - successful

Apr 19 - Third mating attempt - unsuccessful; female was irritable and tried to lunge at him

Apr 20 - Female dropped a sac

Hoping for the best. Do you guys think that the interval time from the first insert to today is a bit too short?

37 days from insert to egg sac, that is really fast, but I hope its a fertile sac.

Thanks for the feedback Ryan. I am also hoping. In your experience what might have caused the T to drop the sac so soon? I really don't have much experience and am relying on others' experiences too.

Thanks in advance!

Nice work! I hope it's fertile too.

Is B albopilosum as common in Philippines as they ar in US (very) or are they a little harder to come by? They're a very underestimated spider IMO. They're one of the most beautiful and unique looking and gentle as a lamb to boot!

Thanks etown for wishing her well. A lot of Filipinos have already bred the species so its like a dime a dozen. I appreciate them nevertheless and as like you said they are a bit underestimated.

I saw her carry the sac accross her tank, being under the half clay pot an hour ago and then moving to the opposite side an hour after. I try not to disturb her as much as possible. Well, a month after I hope to see some babies...

What would be signs of a healthy sac? The sac is just 4 days old. Based on what I see, she carries with her a dirty whitey sac that's not as plump.
