Well pointed out Pinkfoot. I really hate to see the hobby ruined with mislabelling.

I agree. It is sad when somebody rips off people.

Here is a link to photographs of the 5 Avicularia sp amazonica that I got here in the USA...

I asked the guys that I got mine from in an email if the slings that they were saling will be like the ones at the bottom of the page at...

...when they become adults and when I spoke with them over the phone they said yes. I have no reason to believe otherwise. I will continue to post photos of mine as they molt each time in the process of becoming adults at these links...

...so that anybody who wants to can follow their progress. I would be very happy if all 5 of my Avicularia sp amazonica look just like massmorels. They seem to have blue green legs and carapace with dense thick hairs covering their body. Their hairs are also white tipped that looks like a frosting. The abdomen has a red base for hair color. From all of the photos that I have seen they are truely an astounding Avicularia in my opinion in appearance and in the huge size that they become. Secondly if they turn out like massmorels then I would be extremely very happy to end up with a couple of males and 3 females. I really want to breed this peticular species. They seem to be far and few in the USA.

As far as the false naming goes if they would simply say...

Avicularia sp. Peru

...if that is what they are saling then they would probably sell just as well as the TRUE amazonica ESPECIALLY with the honesty. JMO

AFAIK, all the "Amazonica" slings sold in the U.S. are the real deal.

Right on. I had heard that also. I also read on some board that somebody was actually getting some of the Avicularia sp. Peru, purple. If I run across that thread again I will post a link to it, assuming that it was in the USA. If it is a USA person I wonder if they would be importing them since I have not heard of these in the USA as of yet?

One other sad thing is the Avicularia sp. Peru, purple may end up somewhat bad reputation because of other people using false labels to make a sale.:( What next, will somebody call it the False Amazonica?

The money grubber and the business person.:( Capitalism does have a lot of problems, but of course with boards like these hopefully many can get valuable pre sales information.
