So my avic molted this morning, and now she’s dug up an old mealworm that she had webbed over a few times and appears to be trying to eat it. Should I take it away from her? I wouldn’t want her to damage her fangs by attempting to eat it..

Tarantulas know what they are doing.

They will not even attempt unless it is safe.

They know when to eat, when to stop, when to wait, when to molt, when to run, when to defense, when to bite.

They will web things they don't reduce to a bolus. Fun fact, their silk is antimicrobial. It is just likely trying to keep it from ruining her home.

Sort of true-
Species, type of silk, and likely species of bacteria matters too.

But just having that property as you correctly mentioned is of course way cool.
This is why all my clothes are made of spider silk ;)
