So.... my little A Versicolor just molted- and when i noticed the molt, I couldnt find the sling.

The sling had wrapped itself in a sealed web sack so thick, it couldnt even get out when i prodded it with my tweezers.

o_O what the heck? Did I interrupt nap time?

Not nap time, but "hardening" time.

They (and most other tarantulas, actually) will typically seal themselves in
their burrow/tube web/hide when they molt and stay there until they are ready to come out. Most probably to keep anything nasty out while they are still vulnerable.
Rest assured they are fully able to tear their web apart when they want to leave (I've found this a very helpful sign of when they are ready to maybe start eating again!)
Give them a little credit!:)

Also, I wouldn't go around prodding a recently molted spider, lest it accidentally injure itself trying to get away.

Congrats on the molt!

Hmmmm.

Well, that actually makes a lot of sense. :D

I assure you- I will not be prodding anymore molty's. I just thought it was dead. :(

:D Thank you!
