hello all

we were just wondering what so of you use as homes and some of the good tools of the trade might be for your arboreals we are trying to get prepared for our first. the cheaper the better kinda on a budget but arn't we all the suggestion will be greatly appreciated

That's easy (for me, anyway).

Although I'm no expert, here's my suggestion:
Rubbermaid 1 gallon storage jar. $1.97 at your local Wal~Mart
Chunk of driftwood $1.99 at your local fi$h store (really local)
Substrate of your choice (potting soil is <$3 a bag a W~M)
Drill holes all over the top, and all around the top of the jar itself.

I made a waterdish/holder out of plastic coated wire and a film cap. I'll post pics someday.

Another alternative to the Rubbermade is to buy pretzels in a gallon container. Have a good low fat snack, clean well, and decorate like darkeye suggested. Good luck and enjoy!

Arghhh I havn't had a lot of spare time due to working, but I'm making a flash animation on how to construct arboreal setups from standard aquariums. Should be online in a few days, depending on the progress of the site...

What size is your new arboreal gonna be? I have used the set up described by darkeye for my larger T's. But if it's going to be a sling, you may want to use a deli cup or vial and decorate like described above.

What kind of arboreal are you going to get?

I use all glass cages with slide glass doors and with top lid aswell, it works great.

right now we are going to get some avics as slings as well as a P. irminia maybe a 1" or so. my girl want to get some pokies eventually but i dont want them in an aquarium because of how fast they are to much free space at thee top. Crotalus has some awesome cages i really think that would be the way to go for display which i want to eventually do and aquariums get expensive. I am thinking i can transform on of those cheap bookshelves that you can get at wal-mart into a good looking display case.
