Aquatic Beetle ID

Anyone got an ID for this beetle? Found in California, in the Central Valley. It was attracted to a blacklight. It frequently rests in the positions shown in pics 2 & 3. Very quick swimmer. About 1 centimeter in body-length

Some sort of dytiscid beetle. Thermonectus sp. or something along those lines.

Yeah, before you posted I looked into it further... it's Thermonectus intermedius. Apparently the only species in Cali without yellow spots on it. Thanks a bunch!

We are in N Cal, looks similar to those we see in the nearby pool. Seems a lot of them, and they do well despite the chlorine. Fun to watch
