Yes, I understand people say that these species are the same, just in different regions and one has different coloration. Which one would you choose if you had to? Also, is it rare to find captive bred Aphonopelma sp. new river that are in the hobby?

I wish there was a choice when you buy them. I want both. But if I am forced to choose only one, right now I would choose "New River" based on the pictures I just now browsed to for comparison. Now to figure out which ones I own in 1/4" size........

After seeing this thread again I remembered that three localities have been mentioned in a past thread. Unfortunately the last published science document did not keep them distinct from best I can tell.

Aphonopelma chalcodes "Flagstaff Orange"
Aphonopelma chalcodes "New River"
Aphonopelma chalcodes "Tucson"

The different localities quite a bit less common than the generic chalcodes. I personally own (and am a fan of) the 'New River' variety.
