I'm looking for a sling which is calm, docile and good for beginners.

All tarantulas are individuals so a generally calm species can be aggressive/defensive. There is no sure fire way to tell either but you can cut the odds somewhat by getting something from a generally good genus for exampleI'm looking for a sling which is calm, docile and good for beginners.

I have already sent an email to my dad about a Grammostola pulchripes. I guess if I get one it'll be that. All tarantulas are individuals so a generally calm species can be aggressive/defensive. Brachypelma are great beginners although some can flick hairs here's a list
Brachypelma
Albopilosum (probably the best starter t)
Annitha
Albiceps
Emilia
Auratum
Schroederi
Klaasi
Kahlenbergi
Vagans
Verdezi
There are a few more in this genus or go Grammostola
Actaeon
Anthracina
Pulchra
Pulchripes
Iheringi
Rosea (i suppose)
Porteri
Alticeps
All these are great starters and because you're in the uk you shouldn't have much trouble finding most of these.
There are even more but other members will probably join the thread and tell you their opinion this was just a quick guide as most keepers start with these
That's a great choice they grow pretty quick and get pretty big you won't be disappointed if you get 1I have already sent an email to my dad about a Grammostola pulchripes. I guess if I get one it'll be that.
