I went to the All Ohio Reptile show this past weekend and at this booth they had these lizzards called neon dragons. they look really neat looking. i asked then seller what he new about them is answer he did not know much of anything about theses. except that they get around 12 to 18 inches and need modiret to high humidity... well i went ahead and bought the little cutie and brought it home and put it in the large exotera tank with my tree frogs, for tempory till i get a bigger housing on monday.. I watched it for a while to make sure it was doing ok so far so good it. since then i did how ever keep him in with my frogs thought it seemed to do fine and still is he dont seem to bother them at all. and frogs are doing great. he is eating well on the crickets and very active. i have been getting him out for few min to handle him and he seems not to mind it at all.
here are some pics i took of him
i know when getting and animal you should always recerch them before hand. i jumped the gun but seem to do good so far.

I hope you don't plan on leaving him in there with the frogs any longer than absolutely necessary. :embarrassed: That's really not a good plan, cohabiting herp species is double-plus ungood. Things get sick, things poison/eat each other, it's just not something you do outside an absolute emergency.

deffinetly not. i bought a 29g tank with lid and special lighting. i plan on putting it in there tomarrow. i have some live plants to go in there and still want to get some good size drift wood for it to climb all over.

I've seen these in a local herp store here, but I cannot for the darn'dest remember anything except... "water something or other"... so I emailed the link to a friend that is somewhat of an expert and he may know. I'll post back if he does know for sure.

Anyhow, it is pretty cute! :D

I still haven't heard from my friend, but that isn't unusual... it could take a couple of days, actually.
I did start googling the J. splendida on my own and found this care sheet and pic of them, although they differ just slightly in pattern they have the overall similar structure.

Here's the link: http://www.reptilehabitat.com/chinese_tree_dragon_caresheet.htm

I'll keep you posted on whatever else I find. I just hope I don't get a 'bug in my butt' for one or more of these cuties after researching. :embarrassed:

Looking at that it must be a type of tree dragon then, just not the chinese species.

Okay... heard back from my friend:

HI.. umm.. yes japalura.. umm.. The only ones that I have worked with were splendida... and thats what it looks like... its one of the million different weird tropical agamid species that gets imported and no one cares to figure out what species it is. I have seen a lot a variation on the coloration of them. esp. from smaller to bigger ones.. ummm looking on the fancy google..
http://gutt.sg.free.fr/galerie_lezards 2.htm
i see variations of what I think are spendida.. but they are being called tricarinata.. Find a genus description.. which i have been trying to look for.. for about 7 minutes. from what i have read so far it seems like its one of the genus's that is going constant reclassification.. so sadly who really will ever know... Let me read your other email. :p
That's all I could come up with, myself. I hope it helps. The other link I posted earlier was a pretty comprehensive and complete care sheet on these little beasties. Good Luck!

...now, if anyone knows where I can find a Golden Tail Gecko or more specifically, an S. taenicauda.... PM me, please!! (Ya see... I didn't fall for the little Japalura, but another image popped up during my search for info and now I want some of those!! )
