Hi, I found this scorpion in the side of my bag while in Kenya - which was a bit if a surprise! I was originally in the Masai Mara, but I think he probably took up residency when I was on the coast near Mombassa.

It was about 7cm long, and I released him back into the wilds. Would be nice who he was and any other info.
Thanks

That looks like either a Babycurus jacksoni or Babycurus gigas. I a not sure if they can be found in Kenya. I believe they can be, and that is a beautiful scorpion to find! Super jealous ;) They aren't a huge species (gigas being larger, but only up to about 10-13 cm. Jacksoni get to about 5-8 cm). They get a nice red when adults and have a decently potent sting. About 3/5 on the sting index for scorps, so not the worst. It is a buthid though, so it will still hurt like all hell ;). Thanks for sharing, love those scorps. Need to get one soon for myself, I love those little guys :D
