We have ant lions in abundance here but they are plain grey, not as colorful as yours. They are cool critters.

Nice pics! I find a couple of species around here. One makes a smaller trap but it's a bigger antlion. Wow! Wikipedia says there is a species where the adults can have a 15cm wingspan. Maybe it doesn't make a trap but I bet the larvae are pretty cool. A lot of bugs out there hobbyists haven't got their hands on that would be really interesting.

use to go dug them out the sandbed beside the river..

always amazed by how they make their trap and capture fallen ant..
or should i say manually throwed in ants


but i never have the chance to see an adult
