L. cristata just molted last night. After looking at the shed skin, it appears to be a male.

That sucks. My favourite tarantula, and I'm guessing I'll have to get rid of it within the year. So angry...

And since I just found out that my usambara is a male, that means that exactly half of my tarantulas have been identified as males.

I still have a female G. rosea and an unsexed T. blondi. But I swear, if my T. blondi turns out to be a male too, I'm going to be pissed off beyond description.

I'm telling you, the baby Jesus must hate me.

I don't understand why people get so pissed when they wind up with a male. I mean I know they don't live as long etc etc but there's some cool aspects to it IMO. There's the whole sexual male dimorphism thing going on and of course the fact that males are a necessary half of the breeding process. Find a female and help to add more c/b L. cristata s'lings to the hobby. Instead of one, you could possibly end up with a ton of them. :)
