I just got a male on breeding loan from Botar today. After I got him set up, I put his cage next to my female's cage and within a few minutes, she started drumming her forelegs repeatedly against the side of the cage. He has wandered over right next to where she is in her cage and the drumming continues, though he has yet to respond with any drumming of his own.

Is this aggressive on her part or is she just in the mood? I've never seen this behavior before when I've bred ts.

sounds like she's definately interested! My females have drummed to my males...
If he starts drumming, I'd say no need to wait, they are ready to go ;)
Let me know if you want me to come over and help LOL

I agree that this is a good sign. My only concern would be whether he is charged or not. If Botar hasn't bred him for a while, he should be as ready to go as she seems to be.

Cheers,
Dave

oops, I forgot, I think he is newly mature? You might ask Botar if he saw him make a sperm web....

I'm going to give him a few days to settle in before I try any breeding. He eventually ran away from her after a few minutes of her nonstop drumming. He's been bulldozing substrate around the rest of the cage since then.

He's quite fond of bulldozing, but I've not seen a sperm web. I keep my T's in a room that is not inhabited by people though, so he could have made and dismantled a sperm web w/o being detected. He has not had any "action" for about 2 weeks now.

I'd go ahead and put them together, it won't hurt for them to have a dry run. I'd be willing to bet he is spermed up and ready to go. I've never lost a male to breeding. I mean, you'll be there to get between them if things get to rough. I should also say, I've never gotten an eggsac from a breeding.
Good luck,

Ernie

Galeogirl...do you have a video cam?
Or a dig cam? If not, I'd be happy to bring them over, it's nice to have a recording of the happy event LOL
I could bring my female over with Vayu Son's male, and we could mate them as well...we could have a regular orgy ;)

I have Glen's digital camera and, if I can hold off on a mating attempt until Thursday, an acquaintance who is a professional photographer is going to be over taking glamour shots of my babies that night anyway. Should I ask him to bring the equipment for soft, fuzzy mood lighting?

Bad enough that my partners keep referring to me as a tarantula pimp, now I'm moving into the realms of spider porn. Bet my mother never envisioned this when she let me keep those first few ts.

You should mass market this Arachnoporn. I would buy into it. That stuff is an untapped market just waiting to turn people on.

Does that mean not foreign as in the spiders cant have foreign accents and cant be from a far off place or that the voice dubs and quality have to be American?

I mean, it would be really hard to get American spiders only. None of the spiders I have are representative of North America.

Damn! Now I have to hire actors, too? Well, my friend's wife does anime voice-overs, maybe she could improvise something.

I am sure you have enough spiders kicking around to have extras. And if you could start training some spiders for stunts. The bad guy should be a Scorpion.

I agree, but he has to be a cool bad guy, like Darth Vader. Not some pathetic bad guy like the weasily characters in Adam Sandler movies.

So now I need to buy a Parabuthid scorpion, too? I suppose I could cast the lobster roaches as the army of evil henchmen, they're pretty expendable.
