Androctonus Australis Sexing

From what I've gathered in have a Male. The notch on its bottom pedipalps. What i can gather from the pectine count of what I could count, it seems to be a higher count than the females.

Striking species i might add! I have a Crassicauda and I do enjoy the Fat Tail side of the hot species.

You have a male. Many buthid species including Androctonus the females have pectines sitting at 90-120 degree angles of one another and basal portion of pectines are incapable of contacting each forming a basic rough upside down "U" with the genital operculum. Male pectines sit at 60 degree angles and the basal portion can contact (or even overlap) one another forming a rightside up "V".

The night before the Sacramento Show last Spring my daughter and I had to rehouse over a dozen of these, over a dozen bicolors, over a dozen L. quinq and about a dozen H, hottentottas.
We had Cocaine Bear on the tele as background noise and stress relief
The shop I work with has the A. mardin as well.

they are amazing looking animals with their massive tails. But I think my 2 favorite 'hots' are Hottentotta franzwerneri and Hottentotta tamulus for their colors

Ahhhh you should of! They grow up to be some beuties!! I really need to get me a Tamulas. My Hottentotta hottentotta should have babies sooner or later. When I can put some cash aside after the holidays, I'm gonna see about obtaining one.
