Suggestion An Advice on Marketing Thread or Section? If Possible?

I know this suggestion most likely won't happen and it is something that is "Highly" subjective regarding the price, value, and direction this market takes over time. But there is little-to-no guidance on this whatsoever. The market for anyone new or coming in has always been one of two ways of learning. By ear-to-ear as in someone telling you or showing you the way of the market. Or the trial-and-error way of learning. I know talking on prices such as "it's $---" is not allowed in regular discussion threads. But maybe there can be a thread or section talking about the market whether it be a small local seller/vendor or a nation wide discussion on the marketing side of things. I feel concerned for misguided new vendors, sellers, breeders, etc. coming in with a false sense of hope. Maybe if everyone (actual breeders, vendors, sellers, etc.) contributes a little bit of what they know onto a thread then maybe it can be viewed by someone else in the future coming in as well into the market. Which they can learn of what was more popular or what was selling then/now. People made threads discussing everything else such as breeding (which has its very own section just for that) and whatnot. I know it's most likely never going to happen, but I might as well make a request.

Surely that's what marketing is all about.
You look around, do your homework, ask around, Google etc.
I don't think many people already selling a commodity will spoon feed someone wanting to join an already very competitive market with all necessary tips and advice, so that 6 months down the line the " helped" newcomer has much lower prices and out competes all the established sellers, even the ones that have been helpful in the beginning.

That's marketing for you.

Cutthroat and very competitive.

I understand, because I'm usually the person who's throwing reality at these people on every thread I comment/made on about it. I have done so more than pretty much everyone else on this forums at this point. I know that people are just not going to give out advice like handing out flyers for discounts, etc. etc. But it doesn't just have to be advice, but also stories and other niches that happens around the market. I would like to tell some stories of ex-vendors/breeders/sellers that are no longer in business (without not mentioning whose/what business). Because even understanding their failures will help someone else in the future jump over those hurdles that they may face in the future. I can't teach everything, but I can certainly tell you about those who came before and where it all went wrong. I do understand how cut-throat and extermely competitive this niche market is as someone who is in this market and someone who dabbles in and out of it.

Feel free to create a thread on the subject if you would like. Just don’t call anyone out or air another’s business. Stating your own experiences or providing advice based on your own experiences would be fine. Anyone involved in the tarantula trade would be free to respond if they would like just like on any post.

I’m not sure how a whole new section for discussing the tarantula business would be needed since it isn’t a topic that comes up very often.

Some food for thought
@Liquifin et al. The field and profession is called Marketing Research. A vast nebulous profession with specialists galore in various niche aspects. A friend / associate, a professional business management consultant often goes nowhere and does nothing without her team of marketing research individuals, companies or groups. There are numerous college courses offered both general and specific. Companies spend billions of dollars every year on MRs. As example, 7-Eleven won't even consider a franchise without and extensive marketing research profile worked up. The first thing banks want to see before considering a business loan is a Marketing Research work up and projections.

So what you have here is yet another aspect of the marketing research operations. Experts in the field are quite similar to attorneys, often on retainers and charging similar fees.
So rather than reinventing the wheel, some research into Marketing Research seems to be in order. Since you are a grass roots endeavor in a virtually unknown field you will likely have to do your own Marketing Research. You might be able to get a leg up from companies like Petco that undoubtedly have done their own MRs. Worth looking into.
Be it a fast food chain, a convenience store, or a pet oriented business, MRs decide what goes on the shelves and into the catalogs and determines the going price of the products.

Personally I find it odd that so few people know about Marketing Research. Almost everything you buy today, from big boxes to gas station pumps have prices set by Marketing Research. It permeates and runs the sales industry.

I totally forgot about this thread. I have to say, one huge mistake is that everyone is asking is "how to breed tarantulas". But no one is asking "how to market/sell tarantulas".

I honestly don't want to waste time teaching someone if all they want to do is learn only to breed tarantulas. There is a lot of a learning curve to tarantulas other than just breeding them in this market.
