Anyone have an air purifer in the same room or close to there tarantulas?
I was looking into getting one that says it emits positive and negative ions to deactivate impurities.
Do you think that would be harmful in any way to inverts?

I have a HEPA air filter in my T room and I never have had an issue. It keeps the air moving in the room and keeps things clean smelling which for me is important when I have so many Ts crammed into one room. And it takes a ton of crap out of the air. When I do change the filter it is NASTY.
My unit cost $200 bucks, but that was because I got one of the large scale models. There are smaller cheaper units out there as well. But I really think HEPA filters are the way to go.

I keep a HEPA filter running at all times in my spider room, but it's not one of the ionic ones. It's nice to keep the air circulating, and the filters are always nasty when I change them.

The HEPA filters (mine takes 2 of them) are kinda pricey, but only need replaced very 6 months. I change out the outer carbon filters every 2 months.

Don't have an answer about the "ionic" question you had, but just wanted to mention that you can use a HEPA filter that is not an ionic one.

Don't get the ones that do the ionic thing. It doesn't help and it may not be healthy. I mean, your T's will be fine, but you don't need ozone or any other ions floating around messing with the static electricity properties of your dust and what have you.

In my opinion, you should just get a regular filter the sucks particles (i.e., urticating hair pieces) out of the air. Simple and effective.

Read some consumer reports action or something before buying a filter. It's pretty much consensus that it's the filtering that matters, not the ions.
