We all know that you can tell a mature male by his hooks and boxing gloves.

Besides size, are there any indicators as to when a female is mature?

But what do you do if it's a species that doesn't have a spermatheca or one that is not sceloritized or weakly so?

The short answer is no, there really isn't a way to easily tell when a female is sexually mature and able to reproduce.
