Video of one of these insects I found in a local bush reserve. Their aposematic display is amazing!
As far as I know, they aren't mimicking anything, merely using their bright coloration to deter predators should their camouflage fail.You missed the fact that the male has the same aposematic colors as the female but has a more rad sleek body style. What are they mimicking to not be eaten? Just the aposematism with no affect? The matte black and that coloration is bonkers!
Okay, bit late, but I felt like telling you I recently had my first captive born nymph of this species hatch!Another great video @Staehilomyces!
I know, I know, but...thoughts on how they might do in captivity?
