So I have a bunch of acorns, the tops pop of really easily. Is there a way I could use these as water dishes? Coat it some material to prevent rot or will these things be toxic to the T's?

I think these would look like very attractive alternatives to soda caps. Plus they are free.

Thanks!

Ehhhh.... I mean they would be visually appealing but I can only imagine they would rot sooner than later. Also acorns contain high levels of tannins which can be gastrointentestinally distressing to humans so I wouldn't use them for t's. Yeah soda caps are blah but hey they work.

What you could do, is use it as a mold or make a mold from it. Make little bowls that look like acorns. XD

If they're completely sealed with food grade sealant, I don't see why they wouldn't work. You'd have to dry them out completely first I would think to prevent rotting.

I'm thinking a T could easily tip the acorns over, spilling the water. Maybe you could glue them to a firm base which would be hidden under the substrate.
