I've just realized that it's been a year since I got my versi sling and it's doing just great. It was 0.25" DLS and is now just over 2" DLS. I must have been doing it right all along 
. Ample cross ventilation, dry substrate with full water dish and some water drops into the enclosure every 4-6 days.
Here's to another year and hopefully a few more.
