Holly,

How do you know the eggsac is infertile? Does it smell or what? I want to learn.. Thanks,

Really strange. How do you know it's infertile? Are you psychic?

She knows it is infertile because there was no little tarantula man to make her fertile. The female molted, and then made an eggsac. I suppose something was telling her it was time to mate...and damnit, man or not, she would have her eggsacks!

kinda like a woman walking around with an empty carriage.

yep, Vayu is correct, she molted in March, and I tried desparately to find a male for her. NOBODY had one, I was totally bummed out, because she was a proven breeder. Unless she snuck out in the middle of the night, caught a jet to Peru, mated, and jetted back to Oregon, those eggs are not fertilized!
Poor thing....I don't think she knows that though. I am going to let her keep it till it goes bad. Then I might replace it with a cotton ball or something :)

and no, I'm not psychic, but I might just be psycho :D

Infertile

Yep, my urticans did the exact same thing, put out a HUGE eggsack with at least 200 eggs after cohabitating with a male for THREE MONTHS! 100% Infertile

Oh well.
