Rehoused it today and it's been sitting in the water dish since I put it in. Is it ok for it to sit in the water dish?

Is there water in the dish?? That's important given their anatomy.

Normal. But make sure the dish is filled constantly. I’d swap it out for a deli cup. Those dishes don’t hold water very well.

The dish you have now will work. I’m just saying they evaporate, etc... super quick

Would a bowl like this be good? View attachment 379165
That would work.
Could you show a picture of one? I'll have to see if my local Walmart has some.
Have you ever gotten fast food? The sauce cups work good just make sure you don't give the tarantula spicy sauce. (Kidding, don't give them any sauce make sure it's very clean and no soap residues)
No. All of my T’s have deli cups. Tarantulas don’t drown
Sorry to be that guy but we'll technically they can drown they're covered in waxed setae which is hydrophobic so they're very water repellent. If you break the surface tension of the water then yes they can drown but the only way that would happen is if you added a detergent or wetting agent or some degreasing cleaner. Check if the spider's book lungs are out of the water (which they aren't and they don't usually put themselves in that position anyway) don't worry at all it's fine. Even if they are i wouldn't worry that's just something to check.

Yeah, I should’ve worded that better and stated that a T of that size would be very unlikely to drown in a water dish with more depth like a delicup

That second dish is nice too, but keep in mind you will have to get it out for cleaning semi often. Can you grab it tongs?

I'm not certain. I'll probably just go to the Walmart deli and see if I can't get a small deli cup
There is noting wrong with the water dish it has and is most likely best to hold off on making any further changes until the tarantula settles into its new home. Most likely, it is sitting in its water dish due to the rehousing and is using the water dish as a place to feel secure or to avoid the new substrate. The process of acclimation when a tarantula is placed in a new environment can sometimes lead to behaviors that don't make sense to us. In addition, 5 hours is not enough time to start worrying about anything. Tarantulas are incredibly slow at everything, so give it a couple of weeks to get used to its new housing before troubleshooting anything.

My scorpion is pretty slow as well lol so it's not really anything new to me. I really appreciate all the information. It's nice having s place to get a huge wealth of knowledge.
