A. geniculata problem

Hiya, My a. genic female has these weird red bulb type things on her pedipalps ever since her last molt a couple of months ago and she wont eat like she used to. Any ideas what these are and why she wont eat?

Your female is no female at all, but a mature male.

Oh, to answer your question, those are palpal bulbs, which mature males use to store and deliver sperm to the female.
Generally, mature males will seldom eat. Their only concern is to find a female and mate before they expire, which is generally in a very short time (a year or two).

Yeah the red bulbs on its pedipalps would make it a mature male. Do you seen any hooks on the front legs? And most of the time mature males don't eat much.

No haven't seen hooks. Do you think guys think anyone would be interested in taking him for breeding? I wouldn't want any money or babies from it. just wanna make him happy.

Males normaly don't eat as soon as they mature, they wonder for a females becouse thats their ultimate goal in life after maturity. After 1 year when males mature, they die.

Find him a female, and if you dont want 50% of the egg sack, atleast have a few, after all i can see here you care an aweful lot, to say what you have, to allow him to do what he just wants to do, but take a few slings for your self also, plus theyll be the off spring of your boy find a girl, hope for a good breeding, hope for a few slings and if you get them, treat your self to a few free slings if your not wanting the full 50%
