While burning off free time every now and then over the past few months, I have found some interesting links regarding wild T's in places they are seldom photographed.

The first find is what I presume to be Phoneyusa Rutilata (they label it a Hysterocrates). I found the image on a french insect forum. The specimen photographed is from Fathala, a village in Southwestern Senegal, near the coast and just a few KM north of the Gambian border. A very nice find!
Here is the link:

The second find is of a Theraphosid pictured in the wild in, Shenzhen (a region of the Chinese state of Guangdong that lies immediately north of Hong Kong). This is almost certainly the Selenocosmia Sp. described from Hong Kong, but it's nice to know that they are not confined to that small region of China, so this should add Guangdong to the list of Chinese states with Theraphosids.

The third image, also from Guangdong (but about 90km NW of Shenzhen), is what I THINK to be a Theraphosid. Not much information on this one, the photo isn't of the best quality. I sent the link to Dr. West and according to him it may be a Phlogiellus spp. He and a few colleagues have a revision paper in the works that pertain to many Chinese species, mostly Chilobrachys, so stay tuned.

The fourth image is a nice foreign page on H. Schmidti, which features a wild specimen photographed in Guangxi, China.

Also, here is an interesting French page that features many nice images of wild Iscnocolus in Morocco:

Thought I’d add some new finds after long while, here is a Theraphosid photographed in Chad (the website is French). There are no T’s described in Chad, but their presence there is far from a shock. Like many Sub-Saharan African nations, there is a severe lack of arachno surveys done there.

Also a new Chaetopelma Sp. and the first T described from Greece (Crete) https://www.tarantupedia.com/ischnocolinae/chaetopelma/chaetopelma-lymberakisi

Another surprise from this past year....... a new Ischnocolus Sp. and the first T described from Iran! (Courtesy of Rick West). The list of countries that have described T species has grown a lot this past decade. http://birdspiders.com/gallery/inde...-2019-subadult-female-Hormozgan-Province-Iran
