Hey guys, new member here. Posted in the introductory forum earlier. I have an adult female Hogna Carolinensis. Anyway, her crickets are being fed crushed up dry cat food, high protein tropical fish flakes, cucumber slices, and banana.

I was thinking, would it be worth anything to say, take a cricket, give it a dunk in some water, then throw it in a pill bottle with some powdered cat food/fish flakes and shake it up before feeding? Think the added food would be beneficial to the spider? Neutral? Unhealthy?

What do you guys think?

Thanks!
Chris

I can speculate that this would be unhealthy to the spider, just because the foods designed for the other animals are probably high in calcium, which could cause molting difficulties down the line. Can't say for sure though, but doesn't seem needed.

Can't say for sure about the catfood, but the fish flakes have a lot of protein and barely any calcium.
