Is it normal for a juvenile A. avic to have some trouble climbing? Or is it due to the enclosure? It isn't glass, its plastic.

The only case my avicularinae can't climb well is when they are in premolt, so yes sometimes it's normal that they have trouble climbing.

I actually noticed this with one of my Avicularia when I put it in a brand new plastic enclosure. At first it could not get a grip on the sides. After a few days it was back to normal climbing.

I think I had the same issue before on one of my Avicularia slings. She turned out ok after a few days. All she had to do was to web up the sides of her vial a bit.

all depends on the microscopic surface. so in some cases the answer will be yes, as some plastics are produced to be extremely smooth or have all their texture facing one direction as a result of the manufacturing process that isn't favourable for a T to climb.

(google image search 'glass surface SEM' for an idea of glass at the microscopic level)

Glass is easier for them to climb on then plastic?
