At this point in time, I don't believe we allow the direct uploading of videos. Videos would have to be uploaded to a hosting service (such as youtube) and then embedded in your post.

I had to upload the video to Dropbox and then add the link to the thread

As I said, currently, the best way to get a video into a post is to upload it to a video hosting service such as youtube. At that point you would use the media embed feature by clicking on "media"



You would then paste the URL of the video into the field in the window that opens up:
