My wife and I were sitting in our living room. Our A. avic. was in its enclosure near by. All of a sudden, it started to drum its legs hard on the side of the enclosure. It sounded pretty loud. I thought drumming was part of the mating ritual. Can anyone explain this to me? Also note, that it is 100% female (see picture).

Females drum sometimes. I'd recommend trying to find a male sometime soon (I'm not sure if they have a prefered breeding season).

A.avic is damn near full grown at that size.. It's not really too surprising that she wants to breed..

I have had females of a couple different species drum. It was a bit surprising how loud it was but other than that I am not concerned.
