all depends on what you are looking for. Terrestrial's, aboreals? If its the burrowing kind I suggest a H. lividum, or P. lugardi. Ground dewelling, I suggest a T. blondi, or any Brachy. Aboreals I have always liked the Pokies, but I have never owed a aboreal, since I am fairly new to the hobby.

1 New World arboreal = unusual Avicularia
1 New World terrestrial/fossorial = brachypelma species

1 Old World arboreal = Heteroscoda maculata or Stromatopelma calceatum
1 Old World terrestrial = hmmm... Hysterocrates gigas?

1 Psalmopoeus cuz they are right in the middle of OW/NW

that way you have a cool variety of tarantulas
i forget, do you do the nasty Old Worlds?

You can never go wrong with P. Regalis (or three) or other pokie. I agree...Donate the remaining to someone who lost Ts, even if it is a few dollars.

How experienced are you? If you are ready for something Defensive get a King Baboon. If you want something pretty get a rare Pokie, like P. Miranda, or Chromatapelma Cyanopubescens. If you want Ts who are docile, pick up a G. Pulchra, or B. Smithi.

Here is what I would get if I had 200 to spend, in no particular order:

Chromatapelma Cyanopubescens
Brachypelma Smithi
Citharischius Crawshayi
Theraphosa Blondi
Theraphosa Apophysis
Grammostola Pulchra
Poeciltheria Miranda
Any other Pokie
Pternochilus Murinus - Black Color Form
Various Pamphobetus Genus

The thread starter is a diff Tkid i believe.

Edit: Doh missed it, be better to just give the $190 to the general HK relief tho in that case.

I would get a T.blondi and use the rest of the money to house it properly in an enclosure, and that means bigger than a little ten gallon. ;P

JBRD is always on the right track. A T.blondi with a decked cage is a great way to do the 200 dollars. They grow fast, and are great eaters. You will not be disappointed. I suggest passing up the Gramms and Brachys and getting something that is not as common to find and/or gets really big. You could go nuts and get an X. immanis.
