Hello,

Three years ago I went on a superb trip to India and Nepal. While in Nepal, I visited the Chitwan National Park in the midsouth of the country.
I photographed two spiders that I saw there. Maybe 'photographed' is a too fancy word... I tried to capture the spiders. As you will see in the attached photos, the quality is not great at all.

I hope someone recognizes the spiders by species or perhaps genus.

I guess one of the two belongs to the huntsman spiders (Sparrasidae). The other one (very bad photo, too much flash on a dark night) I don't know, but I do remember that this specimen was quite large (as to what I'm familiar with in the Netherlands).

Thanks in advance!
Joop

The first one is a male Heteropoda venatoria.
The second is a huntsman too.

Thanks for your reply.

Would you think the second one is of the same species, but then female? Or is the photo too unclear to tell?
From what I remember, the body of the second spider was much bigger/fleshier.

I won't say one way or the other. H.venatoria females are plainer in color but all I can say from that pic is that the body shape is that of a huntsman.
