Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens:
Well, I decided this weekend to introduce Romeo to Cici and hope for the best. They have been next to one another in the spider cabinet since Romeo hooked out last month. He has been making sperm webs for several weeks. After feeding Cici, I put both containers into a larger container and took off the lids and closed the large container. Romeo made several laps around the entire habitat and then came into Cici's KK from the top. She was at the edge of her tube web with her little feet sticking out. Romeo and she sat with feet touching for quite a while and then Romeo made a few more laps, Cici came a littel further out of the burrow and Romeo returned to the same position he had earlier occupied. I left them together Friday night and Saturday night. Sunday morning, Cici was out of the KK and Romeo was now in the KK. I have no idea if they mated but Romeo is still around! I returned them to their respective homes and have again placed them next to one another. I suppose I will try this again next weekend. It was kind of cute to see the 2 of them lying together with just their toes touching. I felt like I ought to light a candle and provide some aromatherapy or scented massage oil. I never noticed any drumming but since this is my first time perhaps I didn't know what to look for. Di

Sounds like it went pretty well, especially since the male is still alive. My thoughts are that they did mate atleast once, but even if this is true keep trying until you actually see some good insertions. Good luck and keep it going, we need more of these!

Yep I agree the fact that he is still alive is a good sign. When was her last molt?

Evansville, IN (sigh).............I miss the boat casinos out your way. But I don't miss the tornados.

Cici molted June 5th and a few weeks later Romeo molted as a MM. Cici is marginally mature. I took her to Greg Wolfe's house when I picked up some Taps from him and he told me she was of breedable size. Since she had recently molted, I thought I'd give it a shot. She was not aggressive towards him at all. Very laid back. I was very happy to wake up Satuday a.m. and find that R survived the evening. I will refeed her well on Thursday and try another weekend rendevous on Friday. Paul Clavens was also in a similar situation (male hooked out and he had a female handy). I wonder if he has tried yet. PS Talkenlate: the casino is still here. Come visit, we'll talk T's, you and my husband can talk guns cause that's his thing and then we'll go lose some money. We've actually never been to Evilles casino. I prefer to lose my money somewhere exotic (Vegas or Aruba).
