Hi, all! I need help narrowing down this girl to Genius, sp., please. I'm wracking my brain, field guides, etc, and the closest I can get her is into Orbweavers (family Araneidae). I'm not finding any that resemble her very closely. True spiders is a genre I seem to still have ID troubles...
New female moved into Sac City (I call it that because 5 sacs were laid in the same area 2 months ago (by a different species)). I think this is an N. arabesca but I’m not sure...(apparently in my sleep deprived state I became convinced it was within Araneus)
Location is Irvine, CA (Southern California, USA). More photos in my post on the True Spiders subforum: http://arachnoboards.com/threads/caught-some-orbweavers-mating-video-included.311757/#post-2837776
Neoscona crucifera. Another parking lot find I got about a week ago. As I checked on her before heading out, I noticed her guarding an eggsac that wasn't there before. I don't know why I wasn't expecting that considering how massive she was.
