Thanks! I just glued a couple cork pieces together and built a slope of sub around it. I’m happy with how it turned out.

Recent pickup (G Pulchra/quirogai?) suspected young female. It’s nice to have a tarantula that isn’t actively hiding from the camera.

    First Arboreal

I think you’ll be good with either one. If I were you I’d do some searching on the forums for “avic sling help” and soak it all in. Lots of cross ventilation, dry/slightly moist sub, piece of cork bark leaned against the side of enclosure, some cover towards the top and a water dish and you’re...

Quick question - Noise and T's

Is the moving around and all the noise stressing her out? Probably. Is it going to kill her? Probably not but who knows, stress plays a factor in a lot of issues that tarantulas have. if she needs to stay in the living room, I’d give her a ton of sub so she can make a nice deep burrow where she...

Quick question - Noise and T's

Tarantulas are very sensitive to vibrations so I can’t imagine surround sound being fun for her.

How can I keep my avic avics enclosure warm?

It’s not worth the risk imo. As previously stated in this thread, heating pads are hard to regulate. I’ll also add that it will probably cause more humid than necessary conditions in the enclosure if the sub is moist at all and you have a water dish. I know we are talking about an avic so this...

    Aphonopelma seemani

You have nothing to worry about. My A. seemani was buried from Jan-aug of this year. She will most likely stay down there until she molts. I did pour water directly onto the sub a couple times just to make sure that she had access to moisture.

    Slings help needed

Moss should theoretically help with humidity so it won’t hurt to use. The L. vio may burrow as a sling so definitely give it enough sub to do so.

    Which sling would you get?

All 3:troll: Seriously though, do you currently have any baboon species? I do not have a darlingi but I recently picked up a marshalli sling and he/she is awesome. I never know what to expect when I check on it in the morning lol. I swear it has a weekly schedule of either webbing, working on...

Dead Tarantula. What Did I do wrong?

Sorry for your loss. Is that lamp in the pic always directly over the enclosure or was that just for the pic?

    advice needed on Brachypelma albopilosum

Enclosure depends on the size of the T. Females can live 20+ yrs. Males not so much. Crickets, Dubia, meal/superworms are all feeder options depending on size of the tarantula. Hope that’s somewhat helpful.

    First Sling

I think I could’ve worded my original opinion better. If a sling eats every day, I will offer every day. If not, I will adjust accordingly. I definitely don’t condone an enclosure full of live, uneaten feeders.

    First Sling

At 1/2 inch a geniculata will not be fasting for long imo. Even then I’m not going to withhold food from a sling just because it MIGHT fast. I feed them as often as they will eat as slings, then back off when they start refusing. Btw fasting isn’t stressful for the animal, just the keeper :D

    First Sling

Good choice! At 1/2 inch I would offer food daily. A. geniculata are typically very good eaters and fast growers so all that food will go to good use.
