After doing a little more googling, I'm no longer sure myself. However, if GE silicone I and II were both JUST 100% silicone, then there would only be one kind of GE Silicone. There is a difference, but I'm not sure if there are actually mold inhibitors in either, now that I read more. However...
I'm not saying it will definitely harm your spider, but the Silicone II is the stuff with mold inhibitors. I know the reptile folks generally freak out if you say anything about using this. GE Silicone I doesn't have the additives. Maybe there's been some discussion about this here that I don't...
I agree, if a person isn't going to REALLY put for a lot of effort into building a split enclosure, it shouldn't be done. You can't just throw an ill-fitting divider in and hope for the best. On the other hand, I'm 100% sure I could make a divided enclosure that would be just as secure as any...
I got my first T back in the late 80's. It was a wild caught B. smithi. I was about 11 years old and I got it from a local pet store in my little rural town. I didn't know anyone who owned tarantulas. The only info I had came from a terrible book I bought from the same pet store. I kept it on...
I only have 1 1/2 pokies (one is a new sling). But, I've had my P. regalis for, I think, about a year and a half. She's been great. She hid a lot when she was smaller, but now she hangs out on the side of her enclosure all the time. She's only recently made a bit of webbing that she hides behind...
Yeah, I actually read about that several years ago when I was researching this particular macro lens. But I didn't know anything about Tokina before then.
The Tokina AT-X 100mm f/2.8 PRO D Macro is a great lens, as good or better than those from Nikon and the other secondary market names. And, it's a bit cheaper than the Nikon 105mm. You may not have heard of Tokina if you're not into photography, but they're well known for producing quality lenses.
I haven't been on here in a few months. But, I still have T's. And, I'm back on here because I just got a new one and it reminded me to visit the forum. LONG story short, I got a "free" Poecilotheria metallica as part of payment for some geckos. It's a sling, somewhere in the 1/2-3/4" range. I...
Unless you just really like roaches, I wouldn't bother. Choose your battles, my man. I just sold my whole colony of dubia. My wife didn't like them, but that wasn't why. I was just tired of taking care of them and once the colony got huge, keeping the smell down became an issue. Plus, they're...
Whatever you like most. Of the three you listed, I prefer the woma. But that's just my taste. I really like the large colubrids - Drymarchon, Spilotes, etc.
I have an Egyptian Tortoise (T. kleinmanni). I think she's 8 or 9 years old now. I raised her from a hatchling. If I were going to get another tortoise, and I had an outdoor area, I'd probably get a leopard tortoise. My dream would be radiated tortoises, but the prices are a bit much.
This is probably the best advice. Just gradually condition your parents without their realizing it. That's how I became an avid snake keeper with a mom who was terrified of snakes. I started with turtles and lizards, then tiny snakes, and eventually I had whatever I wanted in my room.
