You haven't done any research if you're asking this question.
Do more research to know how to do rehouses with T's that possess UrS. Also the "what not to do" in not getting UrS on you, in your respiratory system and most importantly in your eyes. It's actually very easy to avoid UrS even when...
Could be a small cyst could also be from last molt.
If the T seems to be healthy it shouldn't be a problem. If it's from last molt it should clear up on the next molt.
If it's a cyst not sure if there's much the keeper can do. Nonetheless just have to wait until the next molt.
Don't need to promise me I'm nobody special 🙂
I can't tell people what to do with anything, especially an animal someone purchased with their money.
I just try to offer advice the best I can. I do encourage using the search feature on AB and look up some of these past post. In this case search...
No, I have never handled any of my T's. While there are some invertebrates that can be handled tarantulas are not one of them. Their abdomens are extremely fragile. Handling can lead to a bolt then a fall and a ruptured abdomen leading to death.
Imagine paying a good amount for a sling. You...
Well at least it wasn't a Poecilotheria.
A. geniculata is highly prey driven often mistook for defensiveness.
I wouldn't want my hand anywhere near a genic. My 7 inch genic has some impressive fangs but I don't consider them extremely big.
Nonetheless if I was naive enough to get my hand...
Yeah Urticating Setae or UrS for short.
I'm highly sensitive to them. I only got a few on the back side of my hand. Worse itch I ever experienced then I broke out in a hive on my hand.
I've seen in person a 3.5 inch G. pulchra that was dark brown. Some will turn black when bigger and some can turn black smaller. I've seen smaller ones turn black.
The other thing with sticking your hand in the enclosure are UrS. You might not get bit but you will experience the joy of UrS...
Is there a risk? Always....but it's a low occurrence with external parasites. If it was common AB would be overloaded with post on it.
Nematodes are another issue. Last I read from a member here he had a sling death from a nematode infection confirmed after inspecting it under a microscope. It...
That's what I was testing, to see if it would find it and take it from the dish. It did but the trade off was it throwing the dish in it's water dish.
Will not be using the dish anymore.
In the photos below the first pic looks funny as hell of my T. violaceus and it's food bowl floating in it's water dish but is purely coincidental. The second pic was after I refilled water dish and offered a giant mealworm in the smaller red dish. This was this morning and when I first seen it...
Raccoons can tear you up too if you get too close. Most times they will run off when startled. The full grown one I caught rummaging in the trash can I mistook for a big cat. When it lifted it's head out to look at me we were both startled. It took off like a bat out of hell.
Easy, change the locks on the main door. After pest control comes and goes change lock back and act dumb to it with the landlord.
I actually changed locks in an apartment I used to be in. Right before I was leaving I put the original locks back on. Screw them, I didn't want them entering my...
It's very odd, maybe @cold blood or @viper69 would definitely know.
I want to say it's some kind of cyst but I have no idea. I've never seen something like that before.
That is the most odd thing I've seen in a while on a T's abdomen. My eyes are not the best anymore. Could it be some type of cyst?, I'm not sure. Then there's those little grayish white specks at the top left that at first appear to look like mites but then they don't.
Have you had this T...
Could be something that happened from the last molt. Doesn't look like that is from kicking UrS.
Other than that your T looks pretty healthy. As long as it's eating I wouldn't be too concerned. Should clear up after the next molt.
My T. vagans had a weird circle spot on her abdomen once from a...
