Bitten by OBT
Bite/Sting Date
Friday, February 9, 2024 at around midnight
Pain Level
Excruciating pain.
Circumstance
I was rehousing a recently molted female to a larger enclosure
Size
3”
Damage
Two pin holes
Symptoms
The pain was immediate and intense. It’s a burning tingling kind of pain. It’s not altogether unbearable, but it is very intense and will not allow you to focus on anything else for about 2 hours. Almost right at the 2 hour mark, the pain went away almost completely. Pretty severe swelling started within several minutes and continued increasing for several hours. The next day the swelling had mostly gone down, although some slight swelling could still be seen.

The bite happened shortly after midnight, as that was the first opportunity I had to rehouse the OBT. Of course she teleported and got out, in my attempt to capture her without harming her, I got bitten.

Immediately after the bite, I felt a burning tingling pain that got steadily worse over the next 20 minutes or so. At the 30 minute mark, the pain stopped increasing, but had already reached a constant intensity that overwhelmed my senses and only allowed me to lay in bed holding ice on the bite. Any physical contact with the bite area was very tingly and increased the pain by a lot. This pain level held constant until almost exactly 2 hours after the bite. At that point it was almost nothing, although still tender to touch.

A very small amount of muscle cramping followed the next day or two, but nothing of any serious note.
Medical Attention
None
Lingering effects
None
I do recommend this species, but I do not recommend getting bitten.
