Indeed it is common for a number of reasons for photos to differ from the real life specimens. Often it is just a matter of environment (too much stress or humidity can easily alter the colouration) or lighting when the photo was taken. This spider looks exactly like a common Rose Hair (G. spatulata or rosea, whichever you prefer), and I can't be certain from the photo, but it looks like it might be a juvenile male!
