@Pernicious He does occasionally flatten his neck, but it is not that often. He tends to hiss up a storm and then quiet down quickly. My young male will sometimes hiss and strike at his food if he doesn't want it.
They're all bark and no bite. Their cheeky attitude is part of their charm.
I love them for their thick, short, bodies similar to rattlesnakes. And, of course, their adorable little faces.
They are an excellent species for beginners - easy to care for and really overall extremely tolerant. A big plus is that they are diurnal. They stay small as well, this boy is full grown at 25" and 138g.
