Found an egg sac full of these little guys today; they were starting to emerge and we have some pretty cold temps coming up, so I relocated them into a deli cup to care for them until it warms up. Couldn't resist snapping a pic of this brave little one. No idea what species; guessing orb weavers.
Good for you helping out some little critters in the cold.
I actually have a Cellar Spider right now for the same reason!
I just couldn't let him/her freeze.
OK guys, I did some research, and I'm guessing it might be Araneus bicentarius. We'll see if I end up being right (there's no way to be sure with slings), but the abdominal marking makes me think that might be it.
