Ooooh, this is getting exiting. Second day when black spot developed and this morning it was shiny! :) When to expect this little fellow to molt? Hope I'll be at home when it happens :)
Unfortunately, you probably won't catch them in the process. At this size, they moult very quickly. Later on, when they're larger, it will take a few hours and you might be able to catch them during moulting.
I was able to catch my G. rosea molting yesterday morning. I was struck by the sudden discovery of the "It looks dead" pose. Even knowing it was for molt I hovered around to make sure his/her legs twitched. I even managed to record the process, too. It was very cool to watch and even my 3 year old was intrigued. It took all the restraint he had not to poke/move the cage.
@Eek wow, cool video you have there! It looks such a small space where your T molts. How long did that process take "in real time". Your video seems to have some extra speed
Yeah, I ran it at 16x but the whole process took just over 3 hours. I looked at the nightvision video and she/he was on her back for a couple hours prior to the molt.
On the other end of the visibility spectrum...my G. pulchripes has disappeared down into it's cave and hasnt come up for a couple days. I had thought that the pulchripes would molt first!
@Turpio Maaaan, I really hope I don't have to work the day she decides to molt! It sucks being somewhere and not being able to focus because you think about your Ts all day This would be the very first molt in my care so I don't want to miss it.
