Thank you! I took a chance on buying her, and I’m so glad I did! She’s huge, maybe 6” now?, built like a tank (hence her name, Tank Girl). (6” is a big tarantula to me, LOL) Finding her a boy snack—I mean, boy toy—won’t be easy, though.
Wouldn’t that be incorrect? According to the pics on the Google link, of which my girl’s spermathecae looks like pc #4, that puts her squarely into the Therophosidae sp Sericopelma angustum. I guess, I’m just not convinced she’s not a true Sericopelma angustum, even with all the experts weighing in. LOL.
No it´s not incorrect.
On the chart in the link, i wrote Theraphosinae sp. "Sericopelma angustum".
That means, these specimen belongs into the subfamily Theraphosinae and was labled as "Sericopelma angustum". But it does not mean that these specimen belongs ito the Genus Sericopelma. The pictures illustrat the differences at these two features.
Ok, i'm tired of hobby nonsense trying to link these to Sericopelma. Yes, there was a species from Costa rica orginally called Brachypelma angusta from Costa rica, but i've seen ZERO evidence of any link for those to the mixed stuff traded as "Brachypelma angustum" or various deriviative names. Those hobby stuff i feel best tolerated as Tlitocaltl sp. 'angustum' or such, on understanding that the name 'angustum' is some hobby nonsense early on, with no sensible link to the varied Mexican etc. Tlitocaltl sp. which is traded under the name. It seems to me that the hobby stuff mostly has orgins in Tlitocaltl sp. from Veracruz, plus mixed hybrid ancestry of hobby interbreeding from various 'vagans' like ones - essentially a mongral mix for at least the last 25 years. Absolutely not any Sericopelma sp., so PLEASE forget that genus - Tlitocaltl sp. 'angustum'
