My G.Rosea sometimes acts weird for no reason. Some call them pet rocks but mine is active alot, especially after a molt when it has eaten a few times. Then when it goes into premolt it becomes a pet rock again.
I agree, with a enclosure that high, you should try a have the substrate 5 or 6 inches deep.
