thanks!
i think they're worth owning just for the split second you get to see them once or twice a week. they are incredibly fast, it's really impressive.
Wow what a fascinating species, how long do they live generally? Also how often do you feed her? I've believe Tarantula Canada has some trapdoors for sale, they look really really neat thanks for sharing that pic !
@Ciri from what i've read they live from 5ish to 15+ years with good care... but i haven't had this one long, so i can't tell you from experience. i feed her 2 crickets a week (on average) and she almost always takes them down immediately. trapdoors are really neat, probably one of my favorites
just know that they're super defensive, almost aggressive (she strikes repeatedly at any movement whatsoever, inside her jar or not), and FLINGS HER POOP ALL OVER THE WALLS!!!
otherwise, they're great! i'd definitely scoop one up
XD! The fact you noted poop reminds me of my 3" P. Metallica, it has explosive crap every week in the exact same spot -right on the front pane of acyrlic where I look into the enclosure... thank you so much for the info I definitely plan on nabbing one from TarCan, I had no idea they were so defensive! But then again perhaps they are like an obligate burrower where if their burrow is disturbed they turn into a little demon gl raising her!
