Fresh molt from one of my Poecilotheria ornatas — their fangs are still white! I thought I could just make out some structure between the anterior booklungs, but I fear I soaked the molt too much or something as it seemed to come apart and I can’t make anything of it now.
That is encouraging, as I see no signs of their being male (hooks, extra long legs, muted color, etc.) but my first P.regalis reached this size and didn’t show any signs that I could see of being molted — until they molted into an MM. I also have a P. rufilata at least as large, still with full colors, but appears to be male (I think you also commented on that ventral shot I posted).
Four years now keeping tarantulas and they still surprise me with when and what they mature as!
If you're able and once it has rested and recovered, try and get a clear photo of the top side of the carapace. Only P. ornata is dimorphic prior to maturity, as far as I know.
Have you seen the thread that Advan posted about the dimorphism?
